Nevertheless, he fell in love with a beautiful woman who became the mother of the Emperor. Because it was an incompatible relationship, he became a monk. Then he went for a wandering trip and left a lot of Waka.
Later, many people longed for his way of living. One of them is Basho who made haiku. The impact of these old songs on Japanese culture such as haiku, Noh, Kyogen, Karuta is immeasurable.
Saigyo of samurai and Semimaru of Prince. Many Japanese poetry born from unrequited love, or sensibility was polished because of blindness. It might be time for you to wish to make short poems like Waka someday. Because there are unexpected events in long life.

百人一首が作られたのは8～13世紀の間です。
そこには作者の地位にかかわらず、歌が同じように記録されています。
それらの作者の中でも後の時代に影響を与えた人が侍の西行です。彼には奥さんと子供がいました。しかし事もあろうに天皇の母となる美しい女性に恋してしまいました。叶わぬ恋だったので、彼は侍の地位も全て捨てて僧になました。そして放浪の旅に出て、たくさんの和歌を残しました。彼の生き方に多くの人が憧れました。その中の一人が俳句を作った芭蕉です。
これら昔の歌が、俳句、能、狂言、カルタなどの日本文化に与えた影響は計り知れません。
