Haiku 俳句
I drew haiku using Fudegraphy and created works that combined haiga paintings, illustrations, washi paper, photography, ink paintings, and Zen paintings.
俳句を筆グラフィーを使って描き、それを俳画、イラスト、和紙、写真、墨絵、禅画と共に作品を作ってみました。
Mr. David Cobb published the book about the haiku which is displayed in The British Museum. He cooperated very much in our Fudegraphy workshop in Britain. We presented the traditional Japanese notebook "Ori-cho" to him to express our gratitude.
I drew the haiku in his book using Fudegraphy, and Mr. Fukushima drew haiga. Please look at them.
大英博物館に展示されている俳句の本を出版したデイビッド・コブさん。イギリスでの筆グラフィーワークショップにも大変協力していただきました。感謝の気持ちを込めて、日本の伝統的なノート「折帳」を贈呈しました。
2013 marks the 250th anniversary of Issa's birth. May 5th is Issa's birthday and also Children's Day in Japan. On that day, we held a transcription workshop at the Issa Memorial Museum in Nagano Prefecture.
Professor David Lanou of the University of Louisiana in the United States has translated Issa's 10,000 haiku into English. From those, I selected eight haiku about frogs and asked illustrator Iwashiro Izumi to illustrate them. Many children participated in the workshop.
2013年は一茶生誕250年。5月5日は一茶の誕生日で、日本の子供の日です。その日、長野県の一茶記念館にて筆グラフィーワークショップを開催。
アメリカ・ルイジアナ大学のデイビッド・ラヌー先生は一茶の1万句の俳句を英訳しています。その中から8枚のカエルの句を選び、
その絵を描いてくださったのはイラストレーターは岩代泉さん。たくさんの子供たちが参加したワークショップでした。
From 2004 to 2010, I opened a studio called"Nihon-no-Kaze" (Japanese Breeze)" near the Imperial Palace to promote understanding of Japanese culture. I held various easy-to-understand cultural lectures for people from overseas who wanted to know more about Japan.
The EU was nearby, so people related to the EU and their families came to learn. The president of the EU (Van Rompuy) at the time was a haiku poet, so I presented him with my book "Fudegraphy." After that, he sent me a collection of his haiku. In the book, he wrote about "seasons," so I wanted to try drawing it with a fudegraphy, and expressed the image of that haiku on washi paper.
2004年から2010年まで、皇居の近くに「日本の風」というスタジオをオープンし、日本文化の理解促進を図りました。日本についてもっと知りたい海外の人たちのために、分かりやすい文化講座をいろいろと開催しました。
EUも近く、関係者や家族も学びに来ました。当時のEUの大統領(ファン・ロンパイ)が俳人でしたので、私の著書「筆グラフィー」を贈呈しました。その後、彼の俳句集が送られてきました。その本に「季節」が書かれていたので、筆で描いてみたいと思い、その俳句のイメージを和紙に表現しました。
